Wine Bar

Internal fitout, Surry Hills, NSW
Inspired by the raw, honest approach of early 20th Century Swedish master Sigurd Lewerentz and the memory of a smokey boudoir which I had heard about but could never find, we began peeling back the layers of the previous, much-loved cafe whilst carefully inserting a 'constructed', almost hand-made interior.

The palette of materials is a little expected, a little eclectic; formply, bronze, cow hide, pressed tin, electrical and plumbing components and kangaroo skin velum and it flirts with the line between design and art, earnestness and play, sobriety and naughtiness.

Collaboration with Sam Spurr and artist Renata Pari-Lewis.
