The Watershed

A no-budget fitout in an environmental-education shop "The Watershed" in Newtown for Marrickville Council
We had a budget of almost nothing and were told the shop needed to make explicit notions of urban sustainability, so some fun was had with cardboard & plywood.  The wall of plywood joinery that separates the shopfront from the offices is full of little nooks & crannies. Useful things open and shut and it is also the home for some mobile plywood & cardboard stools we designed for the space.

A very long bench made up of over 350 repeating cardboard sections edges one wall, wearing in slowly over time. The new fitout creates an interesting shopfront to attract people in, gives staff a talking point whilst dividing the public space from the offices behind.
